1. Acceptance of these Terms

By accessing or using Vexx Music ("the Service", "we", "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. What Vexx Music does

Vexx Music is a free tool that converts publicly available YouTube, SoundCloud, and Spotify links — or audio/video files you upload — into downloadable audio files (MP3, WAV, FLAC, or MP4). We also offer supporting tools such as Sound Match, which surfaces similar tracks using each platform's own recommendation data.

3. Personal use only

The Service is provided strictly for personal, non-commercial use. You may not use files obtained through Vexx Music for resale, public performance, broadcast, or any other commercial purpose without the appropriate rights or licences from the original copyright holder.

4. Your responsibility for content

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to download, convert, and use any content you submit to the Service. Vexx Music does not host, own, or claim rights to any third-party content processed through the Service. Copyright law varies by country — it is your responsibility to understand and comply with the law that applies to you.

5. No affiliation

Vexx Music is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube, SoundCloud, Spotify, or their respective parent companies. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.

6. Third-party services

The Service relies on a number of third-party APIs and platforms to function. We do not control the availability, accuracy, or content of these third-party services and are not liable for any interruption, error, or data loss arising from them.

7. Prohibited uses

• Using the Service to infringe copyright or other intellectual property rights
• Automating, scraping, or bulk-querying the Service outside of normal individual use
• Attempting to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure
• Reselling, sublicensing, or commercially redistributing content obtained through the Service

8. Service provided "as is"

Vexx Music is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vexx Music and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of access, or any legal claims arising from content you process through the Service.

10. Copyright complaints

If you are a rights holder and believe content has been made available through the Service in a way that infringes your rights, please contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, take action.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Privacy Policy

1. The short version

Vexx Music is free, needs no account, and doesn't track you. We don't run analytics or advertising trackers, we don't build a profile of you, and we don't sell or share your data with anyone. Almost everything the Service remembers is stored in your own browser, not on our servers. This page explains the specifics.

2. No accounts, no sign-up

The Service has no login and no user accounts. We don't ask for — or collect — your name, email address, or password. An optional sign-in feature existed in an earlier version and has been removed entirely; there are no accounts to create or manage.

3. What's stored in your browser

The following is kept locally on your device using your browser's storage, and never leaves it except as described in section 4:

• Conversion history — the title, source link, download link, chosen quality, and timestamp of your recent conversions (up to 50), used for the "Recent conversions" list and your Library.
• Theme preference — whether you've chosen light or dark mode.
• Spotify token — only if you use the Spotify feature, a temporary access token is stored so you don't have to re-authorise every time.
• Offline cache — if you install Vexx Music as an app (PWA), a service worker caches the page's static files so it can load offline.

You can clear all of this at any time — use "Clear all" in the conversions list, or clear your browser's site data for vexxmusic.app. None of it is tied to an identity, because there isn't one.

4. What's sent to our server

To actually convert something, some data has to reach our conversion server:

• Links you paste (YouTube, SoundCloud, or Spotify URLs) are sent so we can fetch and convert the track.
• Files you upload are transmitted to the server, converted, and made available for you to download — then automatically deleted. Uploaded files and their converted outputs are removed by an automated cleanup job (within roughly 24 hours), and we do not keep or reuse them.

We don't attach your identity to any of this, because we don't have it. Our server may process your IP address transiently as a normal part of handling requests and applying rate limits (which prevent abuse and keep the Service available) — this is held in memory, not used to identify or track you, and not sold or shared.

5. Third-party services

Vexx Music relies on a few outside services to work. Here's what each one touches:

• Conversion APIs (RapidAPI) — one of the sources we use to convert tracks. These calls are proxied through our own server so API keys are never exposed to your browser; the video link or ID is passed along so the conversion can be performed.
• Spotify — if you use Spotify features, you authorise access through Spotify's own OAuth. We receive a temporary token to read the track or playlist you asked about; it's stored in your browser (see section 3), not on our server. Any token returned in the address bar is moved into local storage and stripped from the URL immediately.
• YouTube & SoundCloud — we fetch publicly available content from these platforms to perform conversions and to power Sound Match, which uses their own recommendation endpoints. We're not affiliated with them.
• Fonts & code libraries — the site loads fonts from Google Fonts and a JavaScript library from a public CDN (Cloudflare). To serve those files, these providers may see your IP address and browser type, as happens with any website that loads external resources.
• Hosting — the website is hosted on Vercel and the conversion backend runs on Oracle Cloud; both process ordinary network requests to deliver the Service.

Each of these third parties has its own privacy practices, which we don't control.

6. Cookies

We don't use tracking or advertising cookies. The data described in section 3 is kept in your browser's local storage, not in cookies, and is used only to make the Service work — not to follow you around the web.

7. Analytics

We don't run analytics or visitor-tracking of any kind. There is no Google Analytics, no tracking pixel, no fingerprinting, and no third-party tracker embedded in the site.

8. Outbound & support links

The site links to external sites — a support/donation page (Ko-fi) and a few recommended tools for creators, some of which are affiliate links that may earn us a small commission at no cost to you. These are independent websites with their own privacy policies; visiting them is entirely optional.

9. Children

Vexx Music isn't directed at children, and it doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone — since it collects no personal information from anyone in the first place.

10. Your control

Because there's no account, you stay in control through your own browser: clear your conversion history from the interface, or clear the site's stored data to remove everything, including any saved Spotify token. The Service works fully without you providing any personal information.

11. Your rights (UK GDPR)

Vexx Music is operated from the United Kingdom, and the limited processing described above is handled under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. The operator of Vexx Music is the data controller. The footprint is deliberately small: there is no account, and the only personal data processed on the server is what's needed to run a conversion and keep the Service available (see sections 4 and 5) — chiefly your IP address, used transiently for delivery and rate-limiting, and any link or file you submit, which is deleted automatically.

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to data portability. Because we keep no account and no long-term identifiable records, in most cases there is simply nothing on our side to retrieve, correct, or delete — and your conversion history lives in your own browser, where you can view and clear it yourself at any time (see section 10). Where we do process something, you can contact us to exercise these rights, and you also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted here with an updated date above.
